February Renter Retrospective from Quilted Joy

Can you believe that another month has passed us by? Where is the year going so fast? It is time for a renter retrospective. We got to see a lot of lovely quilts this month. I love the creativity of our renters. They always surprise me with what they bring in. There are so many great patterns out there, and then there are an infinite number of fabric combinations to do with them. It never gets old.

Longarm Renters Show Colorful Fabrics Filling a Plain Background from Quilted Joy

Quilts with bright beautiful colors are very common. If you are going to go through the trouble of making a quilt, why wouldn’t you chose some incredible colors to do it with? But the shapes you are sewing can be lost if every fabric in the quilt is equally bright and beautiful. It would be lovely to look at, but difficult to see. When your colorful fabrics are filling a plain background, they can really stand out. Check out what our longarm renters (from before the pandemic) did with bright and beautiful colors and simple white backgrounds.

Soft and Bright Pastels from our Longarm Renters to brighten your day! from Quilted Joy

These quilters all brought in quilts with soft and bright pastel colors in their fabrics. Some of the quilts are simple and some are intricate and complex. But all are sweet in pinks, sky blues, yellows and greens. I think these are loads of fun.

Oh how we miss our renters! We have not been able to have anyone or their beautiful quilts come into the shop for a month and we miss them so. But at least we still have some pictures from when they were able to come in.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice ...

Cats, and Frogs, and the Wizard of Oz from Quilted Joy

Art often uses motifs from nature. What we see all around us can often be very inspiring. Many of our longarm machine renters will bring in quilts featuring leaves, flowers, and other plant life. But animals should not be forgotten in this scenario, especially our beloved pets. You can even theme a quilt to your favorite book or television show. The possibilities are endless. The following renters have brought in some beautiful quilts, with themes such as Cats and Frogs and the Wizard of Oz!

Our Longarm Renters Use Applique to Make Anything They Imagine! from Quilted Joy

We love our longarm renters. They are so much fun and bring in some very pretty quilts for us to admire. We’ve seen everything from bargello to wholecloth, classic blocks to modern marvels. Some of my favorites are the creative applique quilts. Applique can literally be anything. There is very little that limits what you can add to a quilt by cutting it out and stitching it on a background fabric. Check out what some of our longarm machine renters have quilted with us.

Different Styles of T-shirt Quilts from Quilted Joy

There are lots of different styles of T-shirt quilts and they are all the rage today. You can get a t-shirt at any event, sometimes included with the price of admission. Keeping all those shirts can really take a lot of room in your storage spaces and for what? You might never wear them again. The following quilts from our longarm machine renters are some great examples of ways to layout and quilt a t-shirt quilt.

Striking Latticework sets a quilt apart from Quilted Joy

Many of us have homes that are made of brick or stone. And when you talk about your house or the appearance of that house, we say, it is brick or stone. But it’s not just brick, is it? There is mortar that holds it all together. That mortar is important. You could sew the blocks right to each other, but sashing or lattices can really make a quilt pop. It can also help when your blocks are a little more unique and don’t match each other like they were supposed to. Either way, sashing with cornerstones is ...

A Quilter Can Always Change Their Stripes from Quilted Joy

We’ve all seen jelly roll quilts. The precut 2 ½” strips are super easy to use and come in so many great colors. A jelly roll race is always fun, but these longarm machine renters have brought us some quilts that are a little different. These ladies prove there can be more to stripes than just strips.

Carol Changes Her Stripes

This quilt from Carol is a perfect example. It is literally just stripes of fabric sewn together, but the artistry is the way they were cut and lined up. Obviously, Carol got her hands on a whole bunch ...
